Over the holidays I was catching up on some magazine reading and it seems like one cookbook kept popping as recommended reading: Cook Beautiful by Athena Calderone.

Honey roasted walnuts: give the gift of food this year!

December 12th, 2017 Posted by Food No Comment yet

I believe that the best gifts during the holidays have to do with food. Ideally, it’s something you can eat. I think this started when I had zero money and wanted to give something to each member of my (large) family. If you want to spread a little holiday cheer, it just takes some butter, sugar and flour. Or in this case – honey roasted walnuts.

Are you ready? Thanksgiving is coming…. do those words make you excited or stressed? I love Thanksgiving, but it is a TON of work. There is also a lot of pressure for this holiday to be spot on with the food, amiright? You could mess up Easter dinner, or a labor day cook out, and no one would really care. But  if you mess up Thanksgiving, it feels like you are messing up big. I don’t know, maybe no one does really care (I mean, if they did, they could always go out and buy their own turkey and make it the next day, right?) so maybe all this pressure is just self inflicted.

My first thought this morning at 5am after waking up with Libby was “oh crap I’m out of cloth diapers”. Quickly followed by, ugh I really need to get some quotes from local accountants. And then I need to pay that bill…. but first coffee

We’ve been having quite a few overnight house guests lately, with moving to Central Oregon, a few hours away from my family, and then with having a baby, there are plenty of reasons for folks to come our way and stay awhile. One of my favorite things about overnighters is making a big breakfast in the morning. I just love making breakfasts!

Fall reading list for small business owners, new moms and pregnant bosses

I heard the ladies on Girl Next Door podcast talk about how they have a fall curriculum and I loved that idea. I thought it would be fun to do a round up for you of some books that are perfect fall reading material for the small business owner.

Pregnancy has me eating (and drinking) differently! I discovered a couple new favorite foods that are particularly good for pregnant mamas, or just plain yummy, like the decaf cold brew I whipped up awhile ago, and this lemon ginger drink.

Cold Brew Decaf Coffee with Cinnamon Honey Almond Milk

June 5th, 2017 Posted by Drinks, Non-alchoholic No Comment yet

This is pregnant lady friendly (or just afternoon/had to many coffees already but still want one friendly) and is sooooo good with the almond milk.

I was at Starbucks the other day and had a cold brew toasted coconut coffee. While it was good, it got me thinking of some other flavors – and the fact that I can make my own cold brew in a decaf form so I can drink more of it! Or at least still have my approved one cup a day AND an afternoon cold brew.
